long time no post

I haven't blogged in a while. I haven't figured out why, I think just too busy with radio world and the real world.

First off, I've been making programming changes to the Krypt. Not really musically, but many of the long form programming decisions I made early on are ones I'm going back on. I'm not going to name specific shows but let's just I'm trying to cut down on the non-format shows, the ones that really don't fit the "classic rock with an edge" image I'd like to adhere to.

I've also been trying to get more in-format shows, but there's atleast one provider (which I'm not mentioning, but they're slowing getting on my shit list) that has several shows I'd like to carry, but a week and a half after "I'll be in touch with you by Friday" I'm still waiting....

Now on to some shameless plugs:

Cruise on over to the website where you can donate, request a song or send comments. Send me feedback on the station, the website or both. I'm always open for changes, listen and look.

Long time stranger

No this blog is not dead, real life just got in the way.

I want to take a quick thank you to everyone that listens and supports the Krypt. It's not your typical classic rock station, and I'm glad out of everything out there you're listening.

Did I mention some of the shows we have airing? They're not your typical rock radio shows. They've got interviews, are loud, are diverse and play more than just the same 3 hits by an artist. One show always airs 2 or 3 interviews a show, another will play anything from Iggy Pop to Megadeath to Bo Diddley.

Keep listening and as always, send requests and feedback to kent@kentskrypt.com, Facebook, Twitter and on Skype at kentskrypt.

Behind the Scenes

So we've been up and running for a couple weeks. I'm still tweaking the sound of the Krypt, mostly adding music and playing around with the order of things. I've added a couple of great shows that you can only find in a handful of other places. So if you haven't been listening, you probably should, even if it is just for a few.

The feedback that I have been getting back is great, and I want to thank everyone who's taken a listen and want to hear even more feedback (I'll post an hour sample later). If you're wondering where my idea for the Krypt came from, here it goes:

There was a local classic rock station I worked at for a couple years, .left and came back part time for a couple after that. It was programmed off satellite with the goal of bringing it local and having more control over it than we already did. While working there the decision was finally made to bring it local, make the classic rock edgier and bring in a more well known radio guy to run things (At this point I was working out of the industry full time and not there for the day to day operations of things). So the company had a real kick ass classic rock station that I loved and was making some money with it. Money that I had hoped was going to get me back in to the biz. Somewhere along the lines, the wheels fell off. People did things they shouldn't have and management wasn't happy, listeners were unhappy and the powers that be decided to flip formats to something older and safer. Something that, as a broadcaster, I was okay with. Disappointed with, but I understood their explanation.

So I had my format for the Krypt. Classic rock with an Edge. The Krypt is basically what an FM classic rock station would sound like if I had the controls. I don't, so the internet radio world has Kent's Krypt.

Rock on Krypters!

We're Up!

So today was supposed to be the big announcement, which was that the Krypt was going to be open 24/7 starting next Friday, the 13th (my birthday by coincidence) but I jumped the gun a bit and the Krypt is open for good NOW! That means you can log on to kentskrypt.com and listen live. It's a soft launch if you will, I'm letting the automated system shuffle the library until next week while I still work on the "behind the scenes" stuff with schedules, payments, etc. The "official" launch if you will will still be next Friday, but right now we're up and broadcasting while I get all the kinks worked out and music uploaded and scheduled.

Soon, you'll be able to download apps to listen to the station on your iphone, Android, Blackberry and take the Krypt wherever you want. Take a listen now and share, like, follow and (most of all) send me requests and feedback because that only makes the Krypt better.

Rock on guys and gals!
