I Should Blog more (A year and a half after I said I should b log more)

Yes, I know I don't blog that much anymore, and I should. My work load is a bit lighter. No more balancing a morning show, overnight retail gig and producing basketball and baseball games on the radio. This time, when I say "I should blog more" I mean it. It's going to help me vent and get things off my shoulder. So buckle up and let's go. More tomorrow, I promise.

Now off to watch the NBA finals and see if Lebron-bron can make it through a game without getting cramped up.

Don't like your job? Have a hobby?

This may seem a bit harsh, but as they say, "truth hurts" & "love stinks".

I've noticed more and more people disliking their jobs these days (Maybe I'm just working with those types), I have two questions to solve this: Do you have a hobby? Can you get paid for said hobby?

Generally, your job is 40 hours a week, out of a possible 168. You sleep more than you work. I know people have more than one job and some work more than 40 a week at one job, but in general 40 is the standard and if you have two jobs, chances are you like one
If you have a hobby, can you get paid for it? If you can, congrats, you'll like your job a helluva a lot more than the job you have now.
That's all radio is for me, a hobby. I wish it was more, and I'm working on that because I like it. My main job (the one that pays the bills) is a priority, but not as much as you think. With 168 hours in a week, don't be bitter about those 40 hours you have at a job you don't like. Quit or do something productive with the other 128 hours you have in the week.

I know not everyone can be 100% happy, but don't let a small chunk of your life bring down the rest of it. Find a hobby, and if you can make a living (or even somewhat of a living) off of it, go for it. You'll be a happier person.

I told myself to blog more in 2013.

I told myself I was going to blog more in 2013. So here we go.

That's all I really wanted this entry to be about. A quick shoutout that I'm adding "blogger" to my list of job titles, in addition to my job title at the retail gig and whatever title I give myself at the radio stations.

2012 was a good year. I got back in to the industry I love (radio) and I learned a little more about myself and learned to tolerate more.

If you're thinking "He's not really going to actually pay attention to this blog" and only have an entry every couple of months, you'dbe wrong. I have my second entry all ready thoughtout, the fingers just need to hit the keyboard. Lets just hope I don't find myself on e-bay buying more worthless electronics or overdoing the production elements on one of the radio stations.

Bring on 2013.

long time no post

I haven't blogged in a while. I haven't figured out why, I think just too busy with radio world and the real world.

First off, I've been making programming changes to the Krypt. Not really musically, but many of the long form programming decisions I made early on are ones I'm going back on. I'm not going to name specific shows but let's just I'm trying to cut down on the non-format shows, the ones that really don't fit the "classic rock with an edge" image I'd like to adhere to.

I've also been trying to get more in-format shows, but there's atleast one provider (which I'm not mentioning, but they're slowing getting on my shit list) that has several shows I'd like to carry, but a week and a half after "I'll be in touch with you by Friday" I'm still waiting....

Now on to some shameless plugs:

Cruise on over to the website where you can donate, request a song or send comments. Send me feedback on the station, the website or both. I'm always open for changes, listen and look.

Long time stranger

No this blog is not dead, real life just got in the way.

I want to take a quick thank you to everyone that listens and supports the Krypt. It's not your typical classic rock station, and I'm glad out of everything out there you're listening.

Did I mention some of the shows we have airing? They're not your typical rock radio shows. They've got interviews, are loud, are diverse and play more than just the same 3 hits by an artist. One show always airs 2 or 3 interviews a show, another will play anything from Iggy Pop to Megadeath to Bo Diddley.

Keep listening and as always, send requests and feedback to kent@kentskrypt.com, Facebook, Twitter and on Skype at kentskrypt.
