How I create the new Krypt

Expect big changes with the Krypt in the coming weeks. If you've listened the last two weeks on 89.7 and wmhb.org you've already heard part of the change to a more classic/hard rock approach.

That's the way it's going to be.

Here's my philosophy on the new internet radio venture:

Start with a classic rock station, shave away the weak soft stuff (Brown Eyed Girl, Teach Your Children Peaceful Easy Feeling and For What It's Worth are great songs, but on classic rock radio? Not in this 28 year old's mind)

Throw in the 80's and 90's (something that's largely missing on classic rock radio). Nirvana, GnR, Metallica and the Foo Fighters are great "newer" classic rock bands, and their music fits next to the Stones, Who and AC/DC

Add some flavor like metal and guitar driven pop music. Journey may be a soft band overall, but you can play "Don't Stop Beleivin'" or "Stone in Love" without killing your listening experience. The same can be said with harder edged Michael Jackson. "Beat It" was played on Album Rock radio in the mid 80's because Eddie Van Halen played guitar on the track, they just billed it as "Van Halen featuring  Michael Jackson"

That's how I came to "3 and a half decades of rock without the soft stuff" Classic rock radio is great, but the mood is killed when something like For What It's Worth is played. You can call Kent's Krypt a classic rock station, but it's got more variety than that. The base of the Krypt is classic rock, then I add the igredients. You can help me by e-mailing me requests, suggestions and feedback at kent@kentskrypt.com. I'd love to hear from you...
